What shall we do now?

1-3-11 051

There are times in life we call seasons where we are required to do that which seems impossible. When we find ourselves in those situations we have to make decisions how to proceed. Do we step out in faith and move forward, even without the knowledge of how every thing will work out? Are we willing to be risk takers, hoping to succeed yet knowing we are committed to take the chance of failing?

As new opportunities arise, we can sit on the side lines being too afraid to reach out for our desires, then  watch as others take advantage of the situation and grab a hold of our cherished prize. The amazing thing is we still live in a world where we can actually create new opportunities if we are willing to do so.

Is there one thing in the midst of all the abundance that we are surrounded by that calls us to become more? Perhaps we desire to be a musician, artist, writer, or do other types of work using our creative gifts and talents. The question is, what shall we do now? It is time to find new expressions and new experiences for this new season.

Another season coming up

1-3-11 463

What do we do on days we don’t feel like doing anything, and yet we don’t feel like ‘not’ doing anything? Anyone ever feel like that? The never ending to-do list that always has one more thing on it, keeping the unfinished feeling alive with no satisfaction in sight.

The goal of being content in whatever state we find ourselves is noble; one that requires constant adjustments with many changes and transitions.  Can we accept the fact that everything is for a season, and when the season is over, once again we shall experience another beginning and another end?

Growing from infancy to adulthood, we all go through many changes, physically and emotionally. Realizing we are still growing no matter how old we are, and accepting the fact we will always be changing, gives us peace as we go through the process.

Although we can’t change history, we can learn from the past and move forward. As we embrace each new phase with knowledge and wisdom, we can celebrate the fact we are on a new adventure as we continue this journey through life.

Best of all possible worlds?

The optimist proclaims that we live in the best of all possible worlds; and the pessimist fears this is so. James Branch Cabell 1879-1958

What would we call ourselves in this day and age? Cabell could never imagine how technology would have such a huge influence in our world. The fact that we still have optimist and pessimistic thinking, although many things have changed since the late 1800’s, reveals this mind set can be a heart matter.

Do we suffer with anxiety no matter what the circumstances are that we are dealing with? Or can we see things that are challenging and trust that somehow they will be resolved in a positive way? A surviving cancer patient who suffers pain everyday stated, “Life is hard yet I only have two choices, I can be happy or I can be sad, I choose to be happy.”

We have much to be thankful for in this world we live. It is true we live in the best of all possible worlds at this very moment in time. It is also true, as things are drastically changing, that this may have been the best of all possible worlds.

Shall we be proactive and use our gifts and talents to make contributions once again that are positive to help change this world? The good news is we can be part of that optimistic thinking that can make the best of all possible worlds! Now is the time to decide how we can help keep it that way.

Change Is About To Happen

Sometimes Things Have to Be Moved to Make Way For The New

Perhaps we need to make changes and yet we are not sure what needs to be done. Shall we make drastic decisions and remove everything and start over, or just make small changes? There may be  times when we question if we are actually doing what we desire to or are called to do. Are we headed in the right direction?

There is a saying, “Keep doing what you are doing and you are going to get what you got!” As we ask ourselves questions, are we content with what is happening in our lives, in our community, our country, our world? If we are not content, is there something we can do to make a positive difference? If there is,  what will it take? Whatever we decide we want to change, we need to included the power of persistence.

Nothing in this World can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence an determination are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.                 Calvin Coolidge

It is true we need persistence to fulfill that which we desire to accomplish. As an author one has to begin and finish a book, as an artist one takes an empty canvas and creates a beautiful painting, a musician may write a song and then play music to accompany it. Each endeavor starts with an idea, a beginning and a desired end to be accomplished. This can only be done with persistence.

What area do we desire to change or influence, and are willing to commit to the time and energy to see it through? Counting the cost, with the determination and persistence, shall we embrace a new vision? Can we press forward working toward our goals with the desired result in mind? Let us encourage each other to be persistent and celebrate our successes, large and small, let’s celebrate one and all.

New beginnings

1-3-11 483New beginnings every morning is not a novel idea, yet we may forget how realistic it is. If we remember that yesterday ended at midnight, we could serve ourselves well not to look back at all the things we didn’t accomplish, or the things we did that perhaps we wished would not have.

Starting fresh with a clean slate we can begin each day with the resolve that we will embrace our passion, work, mission, or goal with mindfulness and purpose.

Many positive groups and activities are available to help strengthen and assist us in our endeavors. We have many opportunities to grow and develop our gifts and talents. It is a question if we desire to continue to pursue new adventures in this season or if we prefer to rest and enjoy just watching the time pass by.
